The amusement park. Songs by Grzegorz Ciechowski

We took upon ourselves to analyze the songs of Grzegorz Ciechowski, the leader of a band called ‘Republika’, as they can be understood not only as an artistic interpretation of the latest events in Poland, but also a testimony of their author’s struggle for independence in the face of censorship.

We asked ourselves the following question – what do those songs mean now to a young generation of people in their twenties? We attempted to construct a theatrical world upon this music and use it to tell a story about young actors’ expectations, dreams, fears and desires. They reacted by opening themselves to previously unknown spaces and giving their sensitivity to this newly discovered world.
