{"id":3388,"date":"2019-09-02T17:53:41","date_gmt":"2019-09-02T15:53:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/festiwal.at.edu.pl\/?page_id=3388"},"modified":"2019-09-17T12:35:20","modified_gmt":"2019-09-17T10:35:20","slug":"jury-2019","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/festiwal.at.edu.pl\/en\/jury-2019\/","title":{"rendered":"Jury"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This year the best performances are going to be chosen by: <strong>Patrick Spottiswoode<\/strong> (director of education at The Globe Theater in London), <strong>Catherine Marnas<\/strong> (director of Th\u00e9\u00e2tre National de Bordeaux en Aquitaine and the ETSBA university),\u00a0<strong>Rosanna Gamson<\/strong> (worldwide famous choreographer), <strong>Michael Hackett<\/strong> (a theatre director representing University of Southern California) and <strong>Rafa\u0142 Zawierucha<\/strong> (Polish actor, recently known from his role in \u201cOnce upon a time &#8230; in Hollywood\u201d directed by Quentin Tarantino).<\/p>\n<p>During 6 days of the festival, Jury will see 12 different performances from 11 countries. The most unique artists are going to be awarded in various categories, including festival Grand Prix and prizes for the best actors.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, there will be the Media Jury composed of: <strong>Aneta Kyzio\u0142<\/strong>, <strong>Jan Bo\u0144cza-Szab\u0142owski<\/strong>, <strong>Jacek Kopci\u0144ski<\/strong> and<strong> Rafa\u0142 Turowski<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"http:\/\/festiwal.at.edu.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2019\/09\/portrait-catherine-marnas-002.jpg\" data-gallery><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-3499 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/festiwal.at.edu.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2019\/09\/portrait-catherine-marnas-002-600x375.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"125\" srcset=\"https:\/\/festiwal.at.edu.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2019\/09\/portrait-catherine-marnas-002-600x375.jpg 600w, https:\/\/festiwal.at.edu.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2019\/09\/portrait-catherine-marnas-002-150x94.jpg 150w, https:\/\/festiwal.at.edu.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2019\/09\/portrait-catherine-marnas-002-768x480.jpg 768w, https:\/\/festiwal.at.edu.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2019\/09\/portrait-catherine-marnas-002.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/a>Catherine Marnas<\/b><\/p>\n<p>After her graduation of a Master\u2019s degree in Contemporary Literature and Theatre Semiotics, Catherine Marnas received her education as a stage director under the wings of two great names in contemporary theatre: Antoine Vitez (1983-1984) and Georges Lavaudant (1987-1994). In 1986, she simultaneously founded with Claude Poinas the Compagnie Parnas, which almost exclusively dedicated itself to contemporary repertory.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In France and abroad she directs several texts of her favourite writer Bernard-Marie Kolt\u00e8s, exploring new dimensions in his plays. Her desire to confront theatre productions with otherness, her taste for crossroads, the curiosity to rub shoulders with other cultures, have led her to regularly undertake adventures abroad in South America and Asia. She relies on a company of permanent actors, joining up with other faithful collaborators like set, costume and sound designers\u2026<\/p>\n<p>From her very beginning in theatre, Catherine Marnas has always privileged a mix of creation, direction, transmission and training of actors. From 1998 to 2001 she worked as an acting teacher at the Conservatoire National Sup\u00e9rieur d\u2019Art Dramatique of Paris and also taught at the \u00c9cole R\u00e9gionale d\u2019Acteurs of Cannes. Today she pursues this search for a training of excellence with the student-actors of the \u00c9cole sup\u00e9rieure de th\u00e9\u00e2tre Bordeaux Aquitaine (\u00c9stba). From 1994 to 2012, Catherine Marnas has been an associate artist at La passerelle-sc\u00e8ne nationale de Gap et des Alpes du Sud \u2013 and from 2005 to 2012 at Salins &#8211; sc\u00e8ne nationale de Martigues. In 2013, the City of Marseille entrusted her with the artistic direction of the drama department of La Friche de la Belle de Mai.<\/p>\n<p>Since January 2014, she is the director of the TnBA &#8211; Th\u00e9\u00e2tre national de Bordeaux en Aquitaine and of the \u00c9stba \u2013 \u00c9cole sup\u00e9rieure de th\u00e9\u00e2tre Bordeaux Aquitaine. Her current work, SUGAR HOUSES, was awarded creation and touring support from NEFA\u2019s prestigious National Dance Project and will premiere in 2020 in Los Angeles at REDCAT. Gamson\u2019s continuing investigation of improvisation and group-authored performance practices developed into the GO game system, which has been teaching to performers and creators since 2017. Gamson served as dramaturge, mentor and consigliere to both young and established choreographers and directors, and actively supports the development of the Los Angeles dance community through her Terra Nova Choreographic Residency program.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Gamson is currently on faculty teaching composition at CalArts at the Sharon Disney Lund School of Dance where she serves as Assistant Dean and Program Director of the MFA in Choreography.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/festiwal.at.edu.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2019\/09\/hackett-michael.jpg\" data-gallery><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-3501\" src=\"http:\/\/festiwal.at.edu.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2019\/09\/hackett-michael-600x400.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"133\" srcset=\"https:\/\/festiwal.at.edu.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2019\/09\/hackett-michael-600x400.jpg 600w, https:\/\/festiwal.at.edu.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2019\/09\/hackett-michael-150x100.jpg 150w, https:\/\/festiwal.at.edu.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2019\/09\/hackett-michael-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/festiwal.at.edu.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2019\/09\/hackett-michael-1400x933.jpg 1400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Michael Hackett<\/strong> is the Associate Dean of Students, professor of directing and theater history, and former chair of Theater in the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television. He has a B.A. in English from Boston College and he received a Ph.D. in Drama and the Humanities from Stanford University.<\/p>\n<p>He has directed for the Royal Opera, Covent Garden; the Royal Theatre at The Hague; London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art; Eugene O\u2019Neill Theatre Center, Santa Fe Short Story Festival in New Mexico; Los Angeles Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl; Los Angeles Opera (children\u2019s series); Getty Center and Getty Villa, Musica Angelica; Antaeus Company; Geffen Playhouse; and fifteen radio productions for L.A. Theater Works including Wilde\u2019s <i>The Importance of Being Earnest<\/i> with Charles Busch (nominated for two Audie Awards). In Poland he has directed for the Centrum Sztuki Studio and Dramatyczny Theatre in Warsaw; the Third and Sixth International Gombrowicz Theatre Festivals in Radom, and at the Ninth International Theatre Confrontations Festival in Lublin.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/festiwal.at.edu.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2019\/09\/pattrick1.jpg\" data-gallery><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-3502\" src=\"http:\/\/festiwal.at.edu.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2019\/09\/pattrick1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"298\" srcset=\"https:\/\/festiwal.at.edu.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2019\/09\/pattrick1.jpg 377w, https:\/\/festiwal.at.edu.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2019\/09\/pattrick1-101x150.jpg 101w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/a><b>Patrick Spottiswoode<\/b> began working at Shakespeare\u2019s Globe in London in 1984 and became founding Director, Globe Education for Shakespeare\u2019s Globe in 1989.\u00a0Over 120,000 people of all ages \u2013 from pre-school to pensioners &#8211; take part in Globe Education programmes every year.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>In 1995 Spottiswoode launched a 30 year project to record all plays written by Shakespeare\u2019s contemporaries with professional casts. He established a Globe\/King\u2019s College London MA in 2000 and set up the Globe\u2019s first undergraduate conservatory training course for actors in 2001. In the same year he inaugurated an annual Sam Wanamaker Festival for Drama Schools (students from the Warsaw Theatre Academy participated in 2016 and 2019). <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>This year he curated a <i>Shakespeare and Poland <\/i>Festival which included performances of works by Kochanowski and Wyspia\u0144ski, the Song of the Goat Theatre Company\u2019s <i>King Lear <\/i>and the publication of the first English translation of Wyspia\u0144ski\u2019s <i>Hamlet Study<\/i> and <i>Death of Ophelia<\/i>. He has received a degree of honoris causa from Warwick University and Sussex University and is a Fellow of King\u2019s College, London. In 2012. he graduated from Theatre Academy in Warsaw. While he was still a student, he played the main part in the film <i>Ksi\u0119stwo<\/i> (<i>The Dukedom) <\/i>directed by Andrzej Bara\u0144ski. Soon he joined the team of Teatr Wsp\u00f3\u0142czesny (Modern Theatre) under the direction of Maciej Englert where he works until today. Among others, he stared in <i>Hamlet, Psie Serce (The Dog\u2019s Heart)<\/i> and <i>Bucharest Calling. <\/i>He also makes regular appearances on little (the series <i>Przepis na \u017cycie [<\/i>The Recipe for<i> Life] <\/i>among others<i>] <\/i>and big screen (<i>Bogowie [Gods] <\/i>directed by<i> <\/i>\u0141ukasz Palkowski, <i>Powidoki <\/i>[<i>The Afterimages] <\/i>directed by Andrzej Wajda among others). 2020 will witness the premier of two films with him starring\u2013 <i>Najmro<\/i> directed by Mateusz Rakowicz and <i>Orze\u0142 <\/i>(<i>The Eagle)<\/i> by Jacek B\u0142awut.<\/p>\n<p>For a few years, he has been the host of the shows \u201cPolska Filmowa\u2019 (<i>Cinematic Poland<\/i>) and \u2018Europa Filmowa\u2019 [\u2018Cinematic Europe\u2019] which are now aired at the channel TVN Fabu\u0142a. In the shows, he visits places where the most famous Polish and European motion pictures were shot and he meets renown authors to talk about what happened at the set and behind the scenes of the most praised films in history.<\/p>\n<p>In 2018, he played the part of Roman Pola\u0144ski right next to Margot Robbie, Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprion in <i>Once Upon a Time\u2026 in Hollywood <\/i>by Quentin Tarantino and so far he was the only Polish actor to star in that particular director\u2019s picture.
